Learning a language is definitely a life-long adventure and it’s not always easy to find people to practice Spanish with.
You are maybe tired of going to language exchanges because no one corrects you or is able to explain the intricacies of the language.
You want to be part of the community but sometimes you feel more like an outsider because you don’t know enough about the culture and you don’t understand -yet- the expressions and slang people use around you.
Or maybe you already master the language and even work in a Spanish environment, but you feel like you are always using the same expressions and avoiding the tricky aspects of grammar because there are still some areas where you have difficulties.
Speaking Spanish may be one of the biggest challenges you can undertake, but you don’t have to go through it on your own.
I have created a range of courses that will help you improve your confidence with Spanish in a relaxed atmosphere so that you can enjoy learning, practicing and speaking it.

If you feel like you need to work at your own pace, one to one lessons are the best option. Maybe you need someone to walk you through the differences between the past tenses in Spanish. Or perhaps you need to speak with your children’s teachers or with your neighbours, but you don’t feel confident about how to start the conversation. Maybe you want to start including some informal expressions when you send a message to your Spanish speaking friends, or you want to understand the slang the locals use. In all of these cases, one to one lessons are a great choice because we will focus on your specific needs.

SPANISH CIRCLE (Online groups)
Practice your Spanish with other learners from anywhere in the world
Do you enjoy practicing the language with others but you need the flexibility of online learning? In these cases, my online groups are for you: busy people who want to practice their Spanish with other students at the same level.
In my online groups we follow a specific programme with a range of materials that allows you to see where you are going. You also get plenty of speaking practice with the group and in pairs, with some feedback from myself so that you can improve your pronunciation and how you express yourself.
My online group courses usually last for 10-12 weeks and we meet once a week for 1 hour.
On October 3rd we will start a new intermediate online course called «Cabanyal Z: los zombies también hablan español», based on the Valencian webseries «Cabanyal Z». It is an 11 weeks long group course where we will mainly practice conversation. Before each lesson you will watch an episode of the series (they are about 20 minutes long). In class we will discuss vocabulary and expressions in the episode and we will talk about the topics in the series: politics, gentrification, corruption, drugs, social movements, etc. Fill in the form below if you would like to sign up for the waiting list for the course!

Teaching and learning online is great, but nothing beats a face to face lesson with a coffee (or some wine!)
If your busy schedule allows you some «you time» in the evenings and you would like to make friends in Valencia, face to face groups may be just what you are looking for.
What I love the most about these groups is that they help create a small community in the neighbourhood, since most of us live in Cañamelar or Cabañal and we sometimes run into each other at bars or shops. Some of my students from my face to face groups have become good friends and meet up regularly for a drink, to do their homework together or even to go on a trip!
“Español unplugged para false beginners”: October to December
A course that puts conversation first
«Español unplugged para false beginners« is a 10 week course to review the basics in Spanish and keep the conversation going! It is a course for those who have already learned the basics but need to practice speaking and review some grammar.

If this sounds familiar, this course might be right for you!
No textbooks. Just you and your classmates. Something to drink and some (very healthy) crisps. And lots of activities for you to practice speaking. Mistakes are welcome! We will learn from them! Take this course as a speaking laboratory with minimal technology and materials (hence the unplugged), where the most important aspect is what goes on inside and between the people in the classroom -and speaking 🙂
In this 10 week course we will start with practicing questions about hobbies and (some very unusual) lost property; we will then express our opinions about a range of topics and will do our best to survive in a shipwreck; we will practice speaking on the phone (for real!) with a range of businesses and some very friendly bureaucratic people; we will tell each other’s futures with the most advanced and trusted predicting techniques; and we will talk about past experiences and will learn a new past tense to talk about famous people’s biographies.

HAVE FUN IN VALENCIA!
Tours, workshops and special events in my hometown
Bored in Valencia? No way! Every now and then I organise special events in Valencia, such as a tour of «Semana Santa» in Cabañal, where we learned about how people in my neighbourhood celebrate Easter, or a workshop on scrapbooking where we made a collage in Spanish representing our life in Valencia.
In 2023 I took some students to a famous «churrería» in Ruzafa, where we bought some «buñuelos» (like a fried doughnut, very typical in Fallas) and hot chocolate, and we enjoyed this in the beautiful Parque Central.
